We pre-owned a residential lot and took out a construction loan to build a new home in Sept 2009. We hired a general contractor to manage the job. My husband & I rolled the construction loan into permanent financing on 4/27/2010 to meet the end of April deadline for purchasing the actual home. We obtained our certificate of occupancy on 5/6/2010 to move-in from the general contractor. Do we qualify for the $6500 tax credit?

Is there a requirement on the price or on how long you live in the new house for the $6500 credit?

My husband and I owned our first home for exactly 5 years November 2009, and purchased/closed on our second home November 2, 2009. Am I understanding right that my husnabd and I would not qualify for the $6500.00 tax credit?
Thanks for your help.

As for the repeat buyers $6500 credit, we closed on our home 11/05/09 and the recording - possession took place on 11/09/09.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but what is the "Official" date?

I have been in school from August 2007 to December 2009 and thus have no income or income tax for the 2009 year. Can the tax credit be applied to the 2010 year? Thank you for your help.
