Holladay Utah is a suburb of Salt Lake City and is located about 10 miles South East. In July of 1847 pioneers led by John Holladay entered the Salt Lake Valley. A few men built dugouts along Spring Creek, decided to stay and wintered over. This became the first village established in another area away from Salt Lake City. John Holladay became Branch President of the church and the village named itself, Holladays settlement or Holladays Burgh. Holladay developed with David Brintons Mercantile Co-Op and Brinton-Gunderson Blacksmith Shop. Good conditions allowed for continued growth of Orchards, Businesses and Agriculture. Estimated population as of 2006 is 25,308 and Elevation is 4,465 ft. The beautiful Wasatch Mountains border the City of Holladay.

In the tradition of downtown Holladay a 57 acre site is coming to the community. Tree lined neighborhoods feature condominiums, town homes, cottages and single-family homes. From department stores to boutiques, offices to cinemas this will be a place to call home. To the East of Cottonwood Mall the Cinema Building is under construction with restaurants on the ground floor. Macys Department Store serves as a Historical anchor for the plan.

Cottonwood mall was constructed in the 1960s. It is the first enclosed shopping mall in Utah. An ambitious plan to move the mall towards a more European-style outdoor shopping experience closed its doors in 2007 to start the reconstruction process.
