Park city is located in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains - part of the Rocky Mountain range - about 30 miles east of Salt Lake City. In 2004, the population was estimated to be 7,882. On average however, the tourist population greatly exceeds the number of permanent residents.

Park City is most known for it's ski resorts and history of silver mining. After a large population decline which was a result of the closing of the area's mining industry, Park City rebounded in the 80's and 90's from an expansion of it's tourist business. In the 90's, Park City was one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.

Park City was founded as a silver-mining town and had the second largest silver strike in hikstory.
Along with Salt Lake and other nearby cities, Park City hosted many events for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
Park City has been the home of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team since 1974 and home of the United States Ski Association since 1988.
In January of ever year, Park City is home of the world-famous Sundance Film Festival.
Some scenes from 1994's blockbuster movie Dumb and Dumber, were shot in the city.
Park City is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States.
