South Jordan is located just West of I-15 and near the middle of Salt Lake City and Provo. Towards the end of 2007, the population was estimated to be at about 50,100, a 20,000 difference since the year 2000. This puts South Jordan as one of the fastest-growing cities in the 21st century.

Kennecott Land, a developing company has recently started building a master planned community called Daybreak. This community has been growing fast, and expected to continue to grow. This could double the population of the city. Daybreak is over 4,000 acres in size and expected to have over 20,000 residential homes and 9.1 million square feet of commercial space upon its completion in 2020. One third of the land is staying undeveloped for outdoor recreational activities. When completed the 85 acre man-made Oquirrh Lake will be used for fishing and non-motorized boating.

South Jordan, Utah Facts:

South Jordan's most notable feature is the Mormon Temple located on Redwood Road, built in 1981. On October 1, 2005, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that another temple would be built in the Daybreak Community. This temple will make South Jordan the first city in the world to have two LDS temples.
Kevin Curtis, a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) went to Bingham High School. He has played most of his football career with the St. Louis Rams, but currently plays for Philadelphia Eagles.
The District, a large commercial development that includes many shops, restaurants, and a move theater was built near Daybreak to offer local residents more shopping options and entertainment.
